Middletown Wellness Month 2025 - Youth Mental Health First Aid
Learn How To Better Support Our Middletown Students
Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children/adolescents ages 6-18. You’ll build skills and confidence you need to reach out and provide initial support to young people who are struggling and how to help connect them to appropriate support.
What the Course Covers:
In addition to a brief review of how to respond to an individual experiencing suicidal thoughts and behaviors, participants also learn how to address other common situations that may become a crisis, including panic attacks, aggressive behaviors, substance misuse, experiencing a traumatic event, nonsuicidal self injury and psychosis.
Recognize common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges.
Understand how to interact with a young person in crisis.
Know how to connect a young person with help.
Better understand trauma, substance use, self-care and impact of social media and bullying.
